Welcome Las Lomas Families!
WELCOME LAS LOMAS FAMILIES!
My name is Kristie Doderer and I am proud and honored to be the First President of the Las Lomas Elementary PTA. I would also like to say THANKS to Mr. Rochkus, PTA Executive Board members, PTA Committee Chairmen, PTA members, and all Las Lomas families who have come together to make this a great year so far, despite the fact that we are on two campuses. The PTA has been busy at work since last May’s Charter Meeting getting programs set and ready so that the students will have an enjoyable year. However, we are still in need of volunteers to chair the following committees:
- ADEPT
- Arts in Education
- Beautification/Campus Imp.
- Front Window
- Book Sale
- Copy Room/Front Office
- HEALS
- Hospitality
- Special Education
- Spirit Items
- Sponsorship
Also there are some areas where we can use assistants, such as:
- ADEPT Assistant
- Arts in Education Assistant
- First Fridays Assistant
- Spirit Items Assistant
Please note that if you volunteer you are never alone. Everyone on the Board is ready to help whenever someone needs a hand. Please take the time to think about giving some time to the PTA and if you are interested please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. !
From The Desk Of Principal Rochkus
Principal Rochkus:
Dear Parents,
It is very hard to believe that we have already completed the first six weeks of school. It seems like yesterday we were planning our May family picnic. Before you know it, we will be moving into our new facilities and enjoying all of what our new school has to offer for the education of our children.
Each week I send out a brief newsletter to our parents through our e-mail system. If you are not receiving this newsletter, please contact our office at 407-1606 and speak to Mrs. Kiest. She will be happy to update your e-mail address in our mainframe system. As a LEED Green school, we work to reduce the paper we use, but if you do not have an e-mail account and wish to have a hard copy of the newsletter, you can contact your child’s teacher and have her/him print you a copy. The copy won’t be sent home until Monday, as the newsletter is published after school each Friday.
Beginning Friday, October 12, 2012, we will hold a "Spirit Day" competition each week. Teachers will send down the percent of their students who participate in "Spirit Day". It is simple to participate. All your child needs to do is wear their Las Lomas shirt or dress predominately in Purple or Gold. The class on each grade level with the highest percent participation will have the bragging rights as the most spirited class and keep the Spirit Trophy in their classroom for the week. Any class that has a 100% participation rate will earn an extra five minutes of recess on that Friday. If there is a tie, the classrooms will share the trophy for the week.
